Week 43 - Sugar Cubes

Hi beautiful people!!

This week the Chuuk assistants came with us. Our mission has two sets of Assistants to the President. Guam and Chuuk.

We have a new investigator this week :) His name is Kyaw/Joe. He's from myanmar and speaks Burmese. We found him knocking doors (ew. I know. doors) trying to find a referral. He lives alone and is single. He's a dentist here on Pohnpei. He's Buddhist. We told him we were missionaires and beleive in Jesus Christ. He said he's had some Christian friends before and he really wanted us to come in. Cant, cuz there was no other woman, be we said we'd come back. We've been back twice and it's been really cool! the first thing we taught was that God loves you. haha when we said that he laughed and said "I wish". It was true! We told him and said he is a Child of God and he told us he's going to need a while to think about that. How weird?! Someone who has a hard time believing that God actually loves him. That's probably so sad and lonely.

Our investigators who have been progressing really well did not come to church. Neither did Mither. Lazy I guess.. Haha I should really give them a break, Everyone learns and grows at different paces. I can let my investigators have good days, and bad days.

Do y'all remember what President Nelson said at conference? He encouraged us to study and ponder it frequently. I can testify to all of you that studying conference is one of the best things you can do with your time!! I bought a conference audio CD and holy wow! So much peace and untiy comes into the home as you and the person you're with just listen to conference. It's really really good :)

Rained once this week. Walked in it. Don't have a car still. It's slowing down the work. But it's building me up!! Haha I guess that's a positive side, I'm getting stronger again, and I'm learning Patience ;)

I should mention, God does love you. haha that one paragraph on Kyaw ended on a sad note.. But I do know God loves ALL of us! Kitail koarusie. He loves you too lovely reader of my email :) Remember that and have a confidently happy week!

Love you all! Have a great week!!

Week 42 - Mothers Day

Mother's Day Video Chat with Sister Felt
💗
Happy Mothers Day!! This week was a super fun mothers day week :) We saw lots of families, and we got a car this week so we got to drive all around to all the families Sunday morning and invite them to church (less actives and investigators). But then, as we were passing our house on the way to church, the front tire popped. We already had a spare on the back tire, and the other front tire had already been replaced. Oh well. We got a ride to church from the Cerny's.

Our Ward Council was great! We joined Ward Council because our Ward Mission Leader is less active. So we told them about our investigators, and our bishop is actually cousins with one of our investigators, steve. He's an older guy with no leg.

But ya, lots of walking this week, but also lots of rides. I got a kirinese bible and our apartment security guard brought us a kirinese "lexicon"? I don't know what that means, but it's a book that teaches how to speak kirinese.

Well, that's about it :) Been a good week. Sister Schow was with us for a while while Sister Taunauta went to MLC. We had a lot of fun!

Love yall!

Week 41 - Mither's Baptism

Mither got baptized this week!!! It was so wonderful, I'm very happy for that crazy woman ;) It was a great week getting her prepared and an even better weekend seeing her in the water. She's an example of a truly converted convert. I don't baptize Less Actives.

Mither's Baptism (with Sister Caldwell and Sister Schow)
This week around Thursday night, I got sick again. So all Weekend we were inside and reading the scriptures. I've been reading in Jesus the Christ and holy WOW Jesus is amazing! He grew from grace to grace just as we are. Growing and learning every single day, slowly becoming better and better. Repentance! I think it's quite lovely.

Funny story, I don't know if I've ever told this before, but one time I was rapping the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and wearing an airport blanket for a lava lava skirt and I thought the sisters were coming over. They knocked on the door, and while I was in the middle of belting the rap, I opened the door to the Elders. whoops. T'was quite a scene. I felt very awkward and they stifled a laugh.

Lots of lazy days this week! My advice from Lazy Dayz: Remember to drink your Hot Chocolate (you thought I was going to say ovalteen), and love your brothers and sisters. Family is most important! 💗

I luuuvv youu!!

Week 40 - Elsa Powers

My recent convert from Kitti. :)
Sweet little Shelly at Stake Conference last week.
Yesterday we had a meeting with a member of the 70, Elder Chai, and so P-Day was moved to today. I'm sorry for not telling you.

This week was my first week with Sister Caldwell! We had a BLAST! We're walking again, (even though there are 3 available cars in the parking lot that just need to be taken to the shop and then we could use one.), and so we're getting VERY strong :)

I know that's not exactly what Elk sound like, I've gotten a lot more accurate.
But this is what we got a vid of ;)

The AC in our house has gone a little wack. And one night, as we were beginning to sleep, we said goodnight and turned the lights off and then, the AC made a terrible noise! My bed is right under it and gets the straight shot of the air from it. It also is a straight shot for everything else that comes out of it. And as the AC began to clank and scream, giant chunks were being propelled out of the vent and into my face!! I screamed and threw the blankets over my head and yelled at Sister Caldwell to hit the light, but she got scared and didn't move. So Icicles proceeded to be shot at my face. Even though I'm in the middle of the warm pacific.

Mither stopped smoking!! We hope... Haha she could be lying to us because she wants to be baptized so darn badly, but she's told us she's stopped. On Thursday she got a blessing from our stellar District Leader Elder Charlton-the one my good ole cousin Cooper Lindhardt knows from CO. And after the blessing she said she felt power and has no longer desired to smoke. But she didn't come to church sooo... She was kinda sick and accidentally slept in. We'll see how her interview goes.

Delwin and Jean and their three kids wanna be baptized so bad too!! They live by Mither and she's basically been fellowshiping them. Not even a member and she's already doing a great job :) But that cute little family is my favorite! The only thing keeping them from baptism is also word of wisdom issues.

Learning kirinese is so fun! I'm 100% learning more lanugages when I come home. Also, here's a fun scripture for you. I've thought about using it to invite others to be baptized, but I haven't yet.. heheh 3 Nephi 3:7 :)

Here's another vid of me doing laundry with a local Kirinese lady!
Her name is Sepleen.

Have a fantastic week!! Remember I love each and every one of you and I want to see each of you again someday. So repent now in case you die before I come home. (that's one way to do missionary work I guess) hehe all jokes aside This gospel is good and brings me a lot of peace and joy :) Remember to love your family and take care of your soul. Love you!

Q&A in this week's email with Mom:

1) How are you feeling about being halfway done?
It's too short. But also too long. I don't know it's about fine I guess. Just livin in the time and place I'm suppose to be right now. I don't feel a need to go any farther forward or backward.

2) What is the main language you speak everyday and which language do you study most?
Pohnpeian. I mostly study Kirinese when I'm presonally studying, but most times I'm helping my companion learn pohnpeian. So it's about 50/50 time spent Kirinese and Pohnpeian. But someday's are all Kirinese.

3) How are your clothes/shoes holding up?
haha....

4) Are there many restaurants in Kolonia and do you eat out often?
Ya, there are resturants, but we usually only eat out on Thursdays after district meeting. But the restaurants are not that great at all.

5) What is the best thing that happened to you this week?
Sister Caldwell explained the TV show, Survivor, to me and it sound amazing. I 100% want to do it because I would win! Also Amazing Race. That sounds cool too. How have I never seen these???

6) What is the funniest thing that happened to you this week?
Elder Chai spent about 45 minutes teaching us how to date when we get home and turning Preach My Gospel into Personal Marriage Guide. It was amazing and I agreed with everything he said. Dating and missionary work are all about seeing people's souls.

7) When did you feel the Holy Ghost the most this week?
I'll share a story from a while ago. I felt it super strong when I was teaching Delwin and Jean and their cute little kids and the kids friends. there were about 20 kids, those two parents and Schow and I in this tiny house. And I was teaching them the plan of salvation. As i was teaching them about the pre earth life, I felt the spirit so strong and I told them "I probably knew each and every one of you before this life, and I promised you i'd come down here and share this gospel with you" and It was just so incredible. I love that little family so much.

8) What is your role at church? Do you have to teach or give talks often?
Haven't given talks yet. Taught youth sunday school once. and pohnpeian sunday school once. But we don't really do much.

9) Have you done any fun sightseeing for p-day lately?
No.

10) Did Serleen get baptized this weekend?
No, she's never been to church and we haven't seen her since the last miracle appointment. She no-shows us..
